“We had so many things that we wanted to say to you, and we would not have been able to fit this into a thank you card. When we first reached out to you, and spoke to you on the phone, we knew instantly that you were the perfect doula for us. As you know, we are both very in tune with energy, and your energy was always so calming and positive (we even felt this over the phone). You omit a calming presence when you are around and we felt this in our initial meeting. Not only did you take the time to listen and learn about us as a couple, you also understood us. We felt comfortable with you from our very first meeting and we were so happy that you were going to join us on our journey. You have been such a huge support to us throughout our pregnancy journey, by providing us with information for anything and everything. We loved knowing that you were available if we had any questions, or we just needed a sounding board or a second opinion. Your support truly has been invaluable. When it comes to thanking you for your support during the birth, we’re not sure where to start. We do not know how we would have navigated the turn of events, had you not been by our side and holding our hands throughout. Just having you present, made the experience a positive one for us. Although we didn’t get the home birth that we wanted, we know that Finlay’s birth was a success because everyone is safe and well. Throughout the labour, you were our rock and we knew that we could lean on you for emotional support as well as everything else. You took care of both of us in making sure that we were rested, fed and looked after. The massages and techniques that you used throughout the labour made such a difference to the sensations that Kate was feeling. You had so many tools in your kit for anything that arose, and it was a comfort to know that you were by our side. Neither of us would have been as relaxed about the whole experience, if you had not been present. If in the future we did decide to have another child, then there would be no doubts as to who we would reach out to. You are much loved by both of us. One day we will tell Finlay the tale of how he entered this world, and you will always be a major part of his story. Thank you for being our doula and friend, and for everything that you have done for us. We made a good decision for wanting a doula, and we made the best decision for contacting you. You are a truly special person, and you will always hold a special place in our hearts.”
